- Flow Health Science hosted its first Klario Results Day, sharing pivotal clinical data directly with people living with type 1 diabetes in an online patient‑focused session.
- Participants heard from clinical trial participants such as Tim, who described feeling “much sharper, much sooner” after a hypo.
- The event highlighted how Klario is designed to support real‑world hypo recovery alongside established medical care.
London, UK – Flow Health Science, the London‑based company behind Klario®, hosted its first online Results Day, sharing clinical findings directly with people living with type 1 diabetes — outside the traditional professional conference setting.
Klario Results Day was designed to bring transparency and accessibility to the company’s research, giving patients the evidence they need to make informed choices about their hypo recovery. It combined the pivotal clinical findings with lived experiences from people who used Klario in real‑world hypoglycaemia episodes.
One of those participants, Tim, described his experience:
“I felt much sharper, much sooner and that had a practical impact… I didn’t feel as foggy afterwards as I normally would feel, that kind of awful brain fog or wiped out feeling would typically last for hours after a hypoglycaemic attack.”
— Tim, neurologist, Type 1 diabetes
The same data were presented at the Diabetes UK Professional Conference 2026 (#DUKPC26). However, Results Day placed the focus on people living with type 1 diabetes and the day‑to‑day impact of hypo recovery. For many, post-hypo brain fog is not just a symptom—it affects time, concentration, and overall quality of life.
During the session, participants took part in the Klario Challenge, an interactive poll exploring priorities for improving hypo care. Responses highlighted “getting their day back faster” as a key unmet need – a sentiment that aligns with wider discussions among healthcare professionals, including those at #DUKPC26, where the “glucose rollercoaster” was identified as a major concern. This underscores the importance of correcting blood glucose while also supporting brain energy supply in the recovery phase.
Klario, developed in collaboration with leading diabetes specialists, pairs fast‑acting carbohydrates with additional ‘adaptive’ energy substrates. Clinical studies suggest this approach may help support hypo recovery beyond glucose restoration alone.
“We wanted to do something different. We took the data straight to the people who live with type 1 diabetes every day; their feedback, questions, and stories are now shaping what we do next.”
— Tara Lumley, Chief Strategy Officer at Flow Health Science
Participants at the event were also invited to read a plain‑language summary of the pivotal clinical data, available here.
Klario®: A Novel Approach to Hypoglycaemia Management
Hypoglycemia represents a critical therapeutic challenge in diabetes management: people with T1D may experience 100–200 treatment-related episodes annually. Current recommended therapeutic interventions using glucose-only treatments frequently result in suboptimal outcomes, including rapid glucose fluctuations, persistent neuroglycopenic symptoms, and fear-driven non-adherence to medication.
Klario, a novel multi-substrate energy formulation combining glucose with BHB, was designed to achieve more complete recovery from hypoglycemia. In line with medical guidelines, Klario delivers 15 grams of fast-acting carbs to raise blood glucose quickly, while also raising BHB levels acutely. This combination formula improves glycemic control in the immediate post-treatment period and provides rapid, sustained neuroglycopenic recovery.
