London, UK – Flow Health Science, the London-based advanced nutrition company behind Klario®, has won the Product Innovation Category at the FDF Industry Awards 2026, run by the Food and Drink Federation. Klario was selected from hundreds of entries spanning the UK’s food and drink manufacturing sector.

In their assessment, the judges said: “Being a health-driven innovation that’s the first in its industry, it demonstrates significant potential and growth for advanced nutrition. Extremely comprehensive, specific, and clinically grounded evidence, supported by expert endorsements.”

Hypoglycaemia care has seen limited innovation for years. Klario, a first-in-class hypoglycaemia recovery drink built on a proprietary MESH™ formulation, was developed alongside diabetes specialists and people living with diabetes. In a randomised clinical study analysing more than 1,000 hypoglycaemic episodes, published in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Klario was associated with a 27% reduction in recurrent hypoglycaemia compared with standard glucose-only products.

For Flow Health Science, the award is further recognition of the opportunity in advanced nutrition: combining the accessibility of food and consumer products with rigorous clinical evidence and measurable health outcomes.

The win builds on a strong year of recognition for the company, including a finalist place in the ADA Innovation Challenge (top 5 globally), Best Health Innovation at the World Food Innovation Awards, Innovative StartUp of the Year (London) at the UK StartUp Awards, and a double shortlisting at the Pharma Industry Awards UK 2026.

“This award recognises the strength of the evidence behind Klario. For us, that’s what advanced nutrition should be built on: rigorous science, not claims alone. Our thanks to the Food and Drink Federation, our partners and the diabetes community who helped shape it.” — Georgia Myers, Co-founder and CEO, Flow Health Science

Klario®: A Novel Approach to Hypoglycaemia Management

Hypoglycemia represents a critical therapeutic challenge in diabetes management: people with T1D may experience 100–200 treatment-related episodes annually. Current recommended therapeutic interventions using glucose-only treatments frequently result in suboptimal outcomes, including rapid glucose fluctuations, persistent neuroglycopenic symptoms, and fear-driven non-adherence to medication. Klario, a novel multi-substrate energy formulation combining glucose with BHB, was designed to achieve more complete recovery from hypoglycemia. In line with medical guidelines, Klario delivers 15 grams of fast-acting carbs to raise blood glucose quickly, while also raising BHB levels acutely. This combination formula improves glycemic control in the immediate post-treatment period and provides rapid, sustained neuroglycopenic recovery.
