Klario clinical data presented at DUKPC 2026 highlights the potential to improve hypoglycaemia recovery outcomes with a new approach
- Klario, developed by Flow Health Science together with leading diabetes specialists, was designed as a novel nutritional approach to support recovery during hypoglycaemic episodes.
- The clinical results, from a 12‑week study analysing more than 1,000 real‑world hypoglycaemia episodes, were presented at the Diabetes UK Professional Conference 2026.
- Findings contribute to a growing interest in how targeted nutrition might support people with diabetes in managing the day‑to‑day impact of hypoglycaemia alongside established medical care.
London, UK — Flow Health Science announced new clinical data for Klario® were presented at the Diabetes UK Professional Conference 2026 (#DUKPC26). The findings highlight the potential of Klario® as a novel nutritional approach to support hypoglycaemia recovery alongside established medical care.
Klario®, developed in collaboration with leading diabetes specialists, is designed specifically to support recovery during hypoglycaemic episodes beyond simply restoring blood glucose levels. The clinical results stem from a 12‑week study analysing more than 1,000 real‑world hypoglycaemia episodes in adults with type 1 diabetes. The data were presented by Professor David Russell-Jones at the Diabetes UK Professional Conference 2026, marking the first time this evidence has been shared with the diabetes professional community.
“For decades, hypo treatment has focused almost exclusively on raising glucose. These data suggest that broader metabolic support during recovery may influence what happens after a hypo and could help shape future approaches to hypo management”
— Professor David Russell‑Jones, Diabetologist and Principal Investigator on the study
In this study, use of Klario was associated with statistically significant differences in post‑hypoglycaemia Time‑in‑Range and a 27% relative reduction in recurrent hypoglycaemic episodes over the predefined observation window, compared with glucose‑only products. Participants also reported favourable experiences in day‑to‑day life when using Klario during hypoglycaemia episodes:
- 92% reported they “never” or “rarely” experienced a hypo hangover
- 75% reported that they were able to get back to their day more quickly
- 70% reported less severe after‑effects such as brain fog and fatigue
The findings contribute to growing interest in how advanced nutrition may help people with diabetes manage the day‑to‑day impact of hypoglycaemia, including symptoms such as fatigue, cognitive slowing and brain fog. By pairing fast‑acting carbohydrates with additional ‘adaptive’ energy substrates, Klario aims to support recovery so people can return to their daily activities more quickly and feel more in control of their hypo management.
“We’re proud to present Klario’s clinical data at Diabetes UK Professional Conference 2026. This is the first opportunity to share robust, real‑world evidence with clinicians and the wider diabetes community, and it reinforces our mission to turn new insights from diabetes research into practical tools that can improve everyday life for people with type 1 diabetes.”

Klario®: A Novel Approach to Hypoglycaemia Management
Hypoglycemia represents a critical therapeutic challenge in diabetes management: people with T1D may experience 100–200 treatment-related episodes annually. Current recommended therapeutic interventions using glucose-only treatments frequently result in suboptimal outcomes, including rapid glucose fluctuations, persistent neuroglycopenic symptoms, and fear-driven non-adherence to medication.
Klario, a novel multi-substrate energy formulation combining glucose with BHB, was designed to achieve more complete recovery from hypoglycemia. In line with medical guidelines, Klario delivers 15 grams of fast-acting carbs to raise blood glucose quickly, while also raising BHB levels acutely. This combination formula improves glycemic control in the immediate post-treatment period and provides rapid, sustained neuroglycopenic recovery.
